Jane Austen Book Club – The Movie.

Recently, I went to the premiere of the Jane Austen Book Club movie. It was a bad night for it. The day before my car had broken down, so that I had no car in which to get there. I had to borrow my father-in-law’s car, and before I did, the weather decided to get nasty. It poured and hailed before it was time for me to go, and I had the feeling he was going to ring and tell me to forget the whole thing. Obviously, I was not destined to go out. Our car was against us, then the weather. I don’t go out that often, and this was the result.

Alone, wet and just about had enough, I managed to get there – and headed straight for the free glass of white wine!  In the end, I met up with some of the women from my book club, amongst the one hundred or so people that had turned up.  This was so unexpected, that the movie had to be shown in two cinemas.

The movie itself I found wasn’t too bad.  There were a couple of laughs, but I found that if I were not in my own Jane Austen Book Club, I might have been interested to look at it when it came out at the video shop.  Although, I’m not inspired to read the book (which one Club member had already done), I was left comparing the plot lines and characters based on Jane Austen’s books.  In this case, I’ll stick with Jane.
